From gluten-free cupcakes to honey-infused chocolate confections, Union Depot will offer visitors a sweet day of shopping when its Waiting Room is transformed into the Fourth Annual Holiday Bake Sale on Saturday, December 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The popular event will showcase top bakeries from around the Twin Cities, hostess and holiday gift vendors, and a sneak peek at Lowertown Pop, a Minnesota-made event that will take place at Union Depot April 15, 2017.
Holiday Train Rolls Into Union Depot - Free Concert and Food Drive for Merrick Community Services Food Shelf
CP Holiday Train will roll into Union Depot on Friday, December 9 at 7:15 p.m. for a free concert performance by singers Colin James and Kelly Prescott and a heart-healthy food drive to benefit Merrick Community Services Food Shelf.
The holiday favorite, Elf, will be shown Friday, December 2 at 7:30 pm following the Holiday Tree Lighting. Holiday Movie Night showings are free and open to the public. Concessions will be available for purchase.
Kicking off the #HubForTheHolidays season on Dec. 2 is the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration. Hosted by Colleen and Bradley from myTalk 107.1, this year’s event will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Head House with a holiday musical performance by Six Appeal. Be sure to join in the fun and wear your favorite ugly sweater! At approximately 7:00 p.m. guests will move outside to the North Plaza for the tree lighting celebration followed by a short fireworks display. Bring something to donate! Food, toys and cash donation will be accepted during the event and benefit Merrick Community Services.

European Christmas Market Returns to St. Paul. The enchanting European Christmas Market will come to St. Paul’s Union Depot East Plaza December 1-4 and 8-11, presenting a holiday festival inspired by “Christkindlmarkt,” an outdoor holiday festival common across central European countries.
The Saint Paul Art Collective produces a vibrant tradition – the Fall Art Crawl – that energizes creativity in St Paul. We are celebrating our 25th Anniversary on October 14, 15, and 16 and invite you to join us. The event is free and open to the public.
Now in its third year, the Lowertown Blues Festival returns to Mears Park on Saturday, July 23 for the Twin Cities' largest, free blues festival.
Jazz Masters Ellis and Delfeayo Marsalis, along with modern guitar wizards Russell Malone and John Pizzarelli, and multi-platinum artist Michael Franti, will headline the 18th annual Twin Cities Jazz Festival, executive director Steve Heckler announced today. “I'm excited to have jazz legends like Ellis Marsalis and John Pizzarelli perform the same weekend as Michael Franti and other artists who will be added to the schedule,” said Heckler. “Thanks to the support of so many folks we're able to keep our event free and open to all."
The festival, set for June 23-25 in and around Mears Park in Saint Paul's Lowertown arts district, will include headline acts on the Mears Park Main Stage, Sixth Street Stage, Union Depot Stage, and the new stage in Lowertown as well as performances at over 20 clubs, bars and studio venues.
Union Depot in St. Paul will host two fun-filled, jam-packed Train Days, April 30 – May 1, featuring historic locomotives, model train displays, train merchandise, kids’ activities, special ticketed events and free educational sessions. Union Depot’s 3rd Annual Holiday Bake Sale will host the top Twin Cities bakeries for a day of cookie and candy shopping in the beautifully restored, historic Union Depot in Lowertown St. Paul. Admission is $5 for adults and kids 12 and under are free.
Free movie nights will be held in the Waiting Room on Fridays, December 4 & 18 (Elf and the Polar Express). Concessions will be available for purchase, with proceeds to benefit Johnson High School Athletics.

Cats are back! The Walker’s wildly popular Internet Cat Video Festival heads to the CHS Field in Lowertown. The fourth showcase features a new selection of videos curated by Will Braden, the creator of the Henri Le Chat Noir videos and recipient of the festival’s first Golden Kitty (People’s Choice) Award. This year’s event will be hosted by radio personality Barb Abney of Go 96. Abney was voted Best Radio Personality in the City Pages Best of the Twin Cities Readers’ Choice poll.
The second annual Lowertown Blues Festival brings an exciting lineup of blues musicians to Saint Paul’s beautiful Mears Park for a day of free concerts on Saturday, July 25.
One of the largest civic events in the Midwest, the 17th Annual Twin Cities Jazz Festival promises to be the region’s most significant gathering of jazz artists and jazz fans, the largest ever assembled in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area. Taking place June 25-27 in and around Mears Park in Saint Paul’s historic Lowertown neighborhood, the festival expects to draw over 30,000 people of all ages to experience the joy of jazz on four outdoor stages and at more than 20 indoor venues throughout the downtown Saint Paul area and beyond. Working with newly appointed Artistic Director Francisco Mela, Jazz Festival Executive Director Steve Heckler has assembled a line-up of stellar international acts as well as a diverse mix of local and regional artists.
