CP Holiday Train will roll into Union Depot on Friday, December 9 at 7:15 p.m. for a free concert performance by singers Colin James and Kelly Prescott and a heart-healthy food drive to benefit Merrick Community Services Food Shelf.
The brightly lit CP Holiday Train will roll to a stop at historic Union Depot in St. Paul on Friday, Dec. 9, for an event to benefit Merrick Community Services Food Shelf. Singer-songwriter Colin James and country music favorite Kelly Prescott will perform holiday-themed music once the CP Holiday Train stage is set. The event is free and open to the public. General admission will open at 5 p.m. for the concert, which will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Attendees are encouraged to bring heart healthy food donations. Heart health education and awareness are a tenet of CP's community investment program, CP Has Heart. Merrick Community Services Food Shelf’s basic needs are rice, cereal, peanut butter, dried beans and canned protein such as tuna and chicken. Donation stations will be located near the three general admission entrances. Guests are also welcome to make a monetary contribution.
Strollers are strongly discouraged at this event. Union Depot is not responsible for unattended items. Concert viewing is an uneven grassy area and a concrete platform. No seating is available. Dress for the weather – the performance takes place outside.
VIP tickets are $5 (plus service fee) and will grant holders access to a preferred viewing area closest to the stage. VIP ticket holders must arrive by 6:30 p.m. to be admitted. For VIP tickets, please visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cp-holiday-train-2016-tickets-28537284787.
There will be an ASL Reserved Section with an ASL interpreter for the hearing impaired. This section is free but advance registration is required due to space limitations. To register, please visit https://cpholidaytrain2016-aslregistration.eventbrite.com.
Due to anticipated high attendance, attendees are encouraged to carpool or take the Green Line or a bus to Union Depot, come early and stay late to enjoy Lowertown. Metro Transit will offer free rides to Union Depot by bus or light rail for this event. The downloadable free ride passes will be available on the event web page and on Metro Transit’s website. One pass will be needed for each person. Delicious food and beverage items will also be available for purchase that evening at the European Christmas Market at Union Depot. Event details are available on Union Depot’s website, www.uniondepot.org/holiday/, and Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/uniondepot.
