William G. Franklin is an educator, independent art curator, and a musician. Franklin is offering a course titled Philosophy for the Artistic Mind (What is Art?) this summer at MCAD Continuing Education (last day to register is 5/31) continuing_education@mcad.edu He lives and works in the historical artistic district of Lowertown in downtown Saint Paul.
Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner Approved Workshop
Opportunity for pregnancy bodyworkers, and birthworkers, to gain philosophical and scientific education in craniosacral therapy, fasciatherapy, and integrative manual therapy for pregnant clients. Hands-on training focuses on respectful, perceptive touch in pregnancy and birth. Birth workers who are not also bodyworkers will gain basic skills to enrich your assessment skills and comfort measures for pregnant and birthing people.

Meet The Author #1
Jim Autry is the former editor of Better Homes and Gardens and president of Meredith Corporation. He is the author of many best-selling books. Now, just before Father's Day, in their first father/son collaboration, Jim, and Rick Autry have released "Everyday Virtues: Classic Tales To Read With Kids," (Smyth&Helwys) a collection of stories gleaned from the world's folktale traditions. "This book is intended to give parents, grandparents, and other caregivers a valuable tool in luring kids, even for a short while, away from their digital obsessions," explained Rick. Jim added that he felt there was nothing more important for kids than to hear a story read by a trusted adult.

Union Depot Train Day
A fun annual event will offer guests a glimpse of history and future of passenger train travel, the historic and current role of freight railroads in our region, and changing transportation trends and needs. The day will include exhibits of train equipment, historic railcars, new and vintage buses, bike test drives, and other activities for all ages. Concessions will be available in the Head House and on the train platform.
